What is Dropshipping?
Dropshipping is a process where a merchant displays and sells product
to a customer, however the product is actually not in their possession.
Rather, the product is housed and shipped by a third party who receives
money from the merchant rather than the end customer. Generally, the customer
isn't aware of the dropshipping process. The agreement is between the
product supplier and the merchant selling the merchandise.
Why Use Dropshipping?
Dropshipping can benefit the product supplier and the
merchant selling to the end customer. It gives the product supplier the
ability to offer their product to a larger audience, and for the small
business owner, offering product that are dropshipped are a great way
to make money without purchasing any actual stock. The product supplier
charges for the product and shipping, but the merchant can raise the actual
price of the product for their own product. Some product suppliers will
set a limit as to how much a merchant can charge for any particular item.
